What We Do

Drainage is where we start

Water is what ruins lawns, beds, patios and foundations. Every Gardens of Eden project begins with where the water goes — and for a lot of Kansas City yards, fixing that is the whole job.

💧

French Drains

Buried, gravel-wrapped drain lines that pull water out of the soil and carry it away from the house and the low spots — the quiet fix for a yard that never dries out.

🪨

Dry Creek Beds

Stone-lined channels that move surface runoff where you want it and read as a natural feature of the landscape instead of a ditch.

📐

Site Grading

Reshaping the ground so water leaves the house and the beds on its own. Precise grading is the difference between a fix that lasts and one that comes back.

🌿

Wet Creeks & Bogs

When a low spot cannot be drained, it can be designed — a planted wet creek or bog garden that turns the wettest corner of the yard into the best-looking one.

🕳️

Culverts

Properly sized culverts under drives and paths so water crosses without washing out the surface above it.

🧱

Built Into Every Hardscape

Base drainage and grading are part of every patio, wall and walkway we build — see our hardscaping page. Water is what ruins hardscapes, and we build for it first.

Our Process

How a drainage project goes

Clear steps, a written estimate, and a fix designed for your yard — not a one-size trench.

Walk the site

We look at the grade, where the water comes from and where it can go, and take real measurements — ideally while the ground is still wet.

Written estimate

You get a detailed, no-obligation estimate — the approach, the materials and the price, in writing.

Build the path

Grading, trenching, pipe and stone, then the surface put back — turf, mulch, edging — as part of the job.

Walk it together

We finish, clean up, and walk the finished work with you before we call it done.

Questions

Drainage FAQ

Why does my Kansas City yard hold water after every rain?
Most of the time it is grade: the ground is sloped toward the house or into a low spot with nowhere to send the water, and our heavy clay soil is slow to absorb it. The fix is to give the water a path — regrading, a French drain, or a dry creek bed that carries it somewhere it can go.
French drain or dry creek bed — which do I need?
A French drain is a buried, gravel-wrapped pipe that quietly moves subsurface water. A dry creek bed is an open, stone-lined channel that handles surface runoff and looks like part of the landscape. Many yards need one or the other; some need both. We walk the site while it is wet if we can, and tell you which one actually solves your problem.
Will the drainage work tear up my lawn and beds?
There is digging, but we plan the route to protect what you have, and we put the surface back — turf, mulch, edging — as part of the job. A dry creek bed can become a feature of the yard rather than a scar.
What areas do you serve for drainage work?
We are based in the Kansas City Northland and serve Gladstone, North Kansas City, Liberty and the surrounding metro on both sides of the state line, generally within about 30 miles.
